Not yet. We are currently operating as an unincorporated nonprofit and have not yet obtained 501(c)(3) status from the IRS. This means contributions are not tax-deductible at this time, and operate like any other financial gift. We are working toward formal 501(c)(3) status and will very excitedly share an update with our community when that changes.
While we don’t yet have official nonprofit status according to the IRS, we still operate entirely as a mission-driven organization. This means:
No owners or shareholders
No individual profits from our work (beyond compensating artists or staff, eventually)
All funds are used exclusively to advance our mission
We are governed by a volunteer board committed to faithful stewardship
We’re building toward formal nonprofit status thoughtfully and in a sustainable manner. Our timeline depends on establishing operational stability, governance structures, and community support. We’d like to gain nonprofit status as early as this year, but who knows. We’ll keep our community informed as we progress through the process.
Your gifts support our mission by:
Renting facilities for community gatherings, workshops, and showcases
Resources and materials for direct artistic programming (paint, textiles, etc)
Operational costs (Venue rentals, communications, web domains)
Establishing residencies and mentorship with compensation or support
Supporting our partnerships with churches, schools, or cultural organizations
Yes. While not tax-deductible (yet), we will provide a receipt acknowledging your gift and our profound gratitude.
Even before acquiring 501(c)(3) status, we are committed to operating in a fully transparent manner. Not only because we believe it’s the right way to work, but because it will simplify the transition to a IRS-approved nonprofit. We publish:
Annual financial reports with income and expenses
Updates on community-funded programs (including efficacy reports)
Board meeting summaries and reports
Our board of directors provides governance and accountability. We maintain clear financial records, distinguish organization funds from personal accounts, and follow best practices for nonprofit financial management.
Day-to-day operational management is conducted by Connor McKinnis, MPA, who studied nonprofit and local government financial administration and management at James Madison University.
Because the work matters now, regardless of the current IRS status. The Church in the Triangle needs artistic community, encouragement, and support to practice their craft as worship. Your support in this early stage:
Launches meaningful programs without excessive bureaucratic infrastructure
Demonstrates to us and to the community that this work matters
Builds momentum and trust as we grow
Shows sacrificial support for an early vision of what the Church's artistic life can be
The earliest supporters are those who believe not just in what we can do now, but in what we can become.
All supporters (financial, prayer, & volunteer) receive:
Email newsletter updates on programs and artist stories
Interest-specific invitations to community gatherings and showcases
Annual impact reports
Opportunities to meet the artists you’re supporting
Absolutely! We welcome partnerships with churches, arts groups, and businesses who share our vision. Institutional gifts help us plan larger initiatives like residencies or major community events. Please email our Executive Director, Connor McKinnis, at connor.mckinnis@creatiocollective.org to talk more about what a partnership could look like.
Please reach out to us directly. We are committed to community trust and will happily discuss our finances, decision strategies, and stewardship practices with transparency and care. We will also take whatever advice you have to offer.
You can email our Executive Director, Connor McKinnis, at connor.mckinnis@creatiocollective.org. We’d love to talk with you about how your support can help glorify God through creation in the Triangle.
Right now, almost zero. Our staff are 100% volunteers, and our operational expenses are extremely lean (~$100/year for email, domains, and business software).
Of course! We have a number of volunteers (all of our staff and masters) who contribute essentially to the mission. Contact us to discuss how your particular gifts can help further the mission of Creatio Collective.
If we close our doors, all our assets will be redistributed (after clearing any liabilities) to 501(c)(3) nonprofits that have similar and aligned missions. Your gift would still go to supporting the Church in the Triangle and its artistic worship.
